Intel and Nokia are working on 4G (WiMAX like).
3G is mainly for mobile devices and phones, WiMAX will be in Intel chips some time in 2007 (maybe) and in Nokia at roughly the same period. This needs to go through some international body (IEEE or ITU, for example) so that it is guaranteed to work internationally (as the market is global). Putting 3G (UMTS, WCDMA) in a PC is sort of a intermediary step in the evolution of mobile computing.
