The damage is already being done..
No thanks to recent FCC rulings, BellSouth is in the middle of discontinuing ALL Private Virtual Circuits(PVC's) capability offered to BS's aDSL RESELLERS. (A likely a fatal blow for most smaller ISP's/resellers.)

Leaving only BS's unreliable, session based PPPoE, aDSL service as the remaining LOW COST teleco connectivity for a majority customers in a nine(9)state area.

This change effectively makes 24x7 access to customer hosted servers a pot luck affair. Thus eliminating a significant portion of the internet's future evolutionary pathway.

One of those lost evolutionary pathways, 100% elimination of spam and positive ID of companies who sell and/or leak email databases.

(I.E. Texas instruments, Inc. was recently ID'd as giving and/or leaking customer email addrs to Korean Stock spammers. )

Too Bad, that the Cable co's in this region are just as messed up as BS. As a result of this pitiful duopoly, cost/benefit benefit ratio of broadband access is steadily deteriorating.

A few of us lucky enough to have central office connectivity with a colocated CLEC are switching as fast as we can.
