- Not so simple
- I agree that if I am on the clock, my company has the right to know where I am. On the other hand, I don't think they should have the right to track me using my personal cell phone or on my personal time, even if I am technically "on-call". For example, I can easily say my company saying that we will only hire people that can be available in an emergency at any time 24x7. Next they say that available means I need to carry a cell phone where I can be contacted if needed in an emergency. Then they ask me for my cell phone number where I can be contacted if there is an emergency. Finally step is to say that I must make this number available to be tracked so that if an emergency comes up, they can see if they need to track me or if someone else is closer to the emergency location. One step at a time, it sounded "reasonable" until I realized that I am now paying for them to be able to track me anywhere, at any time.
