There ya go agin, Shade.
Tryin' to say that Ben only made this statement once, in only one way. There is only one quote we are positive he made in this vein:

"Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power."
- Poor Richard's Almanack of 1738

Many variations of the quote have been attributed to Franklin, some of them probably incorrectly:

"They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
"He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security"
"He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither"
"If we restrict liberty to attain security we will lose them both."
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."

What we DO know is that the thought of ALL of the Founding Fathers was that Liberty is much more important than Security, as shown by Patrick Henry's famous quote:

"Give me liberty or give me death!"

Now, in keeping on-topic (high tech as it relates to politics), did you know that if you slow down a Dubya speech just 10%, he sounds like Drunk Uncle George at the family Bar-B-Q! If the speech contains one of his famous Bushisms, it is EXTRA hilarious! Try it!
