The subscription business model is like a quick fix, (instant gratification) which has not proven itself to be a successful model as of yet, if ever.

5 years from now & $900 spent, if you cancel Napster for some reason say you want to switch over to a Yahoo, you are screwed!

A good read of how much spining certain CEO's will do to promote their service, at the expense of sounding just ludicrous:
