they've already been bailed out (twice). They seem to have a
business model where the more subscribers they sign up, the
more money they lose.

That's just not a winning business model and they have given no
indication of how they are going to actually make a profit - ever.
Even worse, when given free access to Napster, the vast majority
of college students preferred to pay to use Apple's service. If
Napster can't compete when their product is given away, there's
no real hope for them.

So this comes as no surprise. It's not a question of *if* Napster
will fail, but *when* Napster will fail. My guess is this year, but if
they get another cash injection they might just stagger into
2007.

We won't miss 'em. Music subscription services have repeatedly
failed to ignite any interest among consumers and things like
this are exactly why.
