Your point is VERY valid . . .
Yes, any antenna that transmits will also receive.

You don't even need 300 watts: just a few will do. There has been problems reported in both VA and TX during tests with hams "interfering" with BPL (see the next paragraph for why I put the word "interfering" in quotes).

What the BPL providers are banking on (and the FCC, with their actions to date sure could give this impression) is that if hams "interfere" with BPL (and remember, hams are LICENSED users of that spectrum: BPL is an UNlicensed Part 15 use) that there are more potential customers for the service than there are hams and that the FCC, the local politicos and others will sacrifice the hams to the "greater good" of broadband service. The BPL folks have made statements to that effect already and have shown a total disregard for anyone's interests other than their own (which is to leverage their electrical distribution system to enter this new business).

The ARRL has been too "PC" to breach this issue directly (hey, they have to co-exist with those yo-yos) but I'm under no such constraints.

Now I have no problems with the concept of BPL and the electical utilities making an honest buck. However, I DO have big objections to the idea that they can deploy a system they KNOW going in will cause problems and hope the political system will cover their behinds. These are the actions of a bully, and they are being aided by the FCC! Someone needs to be bold enough to look behind the scenes and find out why the FCC is acting in the manner they are acting. I smell a rat somewhere . . .

Regards,
Bill Bowen
