Good in parts
Given the resources so far the Skype developers have done a wondeful job but to be a real wire line alternative, they really do need investment to get quality and facilities up to speed. The new servic of being able to divert incoming calls to a landline when the PC is switched off is a good example of innovation.
Offnet calls are very variable. I can call Malaysia without problems but Hong Kong and Australia just aren't good enough. In the UK calls from Skype show on Caller ID as "International". I've tried the Yahoo service (with BT in the UK) and they have got better transmission but tons of echo.
