I hate taxes too but...
I to agree on stopping the cash hand outs to other areas of the world until we have our house in order. But this internet thing is sort of important ya know? It really does provide big advantages to business and farming is a business, it's big business. And not to be cruel but one US farmer feeds 130 people or so. (In 1960 the number was 25.) This is possible via the use of technology in just about everything you can imagine. (If you haven't been a on modern farm tractor in a long time you should drop in at a John Deere dealer sometime.)

ALL the farmers in my are use GPS in conjunction with the local conservation officer to insure compliance with tilling and planting regulations. Downloading that is no trivial matter and is almost always done each morning if the weather has changed. In other words a rain may have changed the recomnened plowing/planting/cultivating plans.

Satelitte imagery is something they do with thier insurance carriers, (crop insurance and claims) they look at data from all over the US to see how other browing areas are doing, they watch the weather in ways a city person simply would not understand, many rural vets are using real time video to "see" what live stock is doing. They can see 20 animals in the time it would take to drive to one farm.

Of course watching the market is ALWAYS a constant activity. A few pennies one way or the other on the price of grain can mean a profit or loss for the entire year.

The point in all this of course is to show that the internet is of vital interest to our food producers. Believe me, if a satelitte connection was trust worthy it would be great but the farmers I know say it's messed up by weather often enough they can't trust it. (Rain, Snow, even heavy clouds)

NAw dude, eating is something I am ready to halp pay for.
