An example then...
Say you raise hogs, you need to check the genetics of your mating bore so you send a blodd sample to the local university, that in turn traces to the Boars blood line. Do you have any idea how long it would take to get those results across dial up?

Ok another one. You have 100K bushles of corn, you are trying to monitor the constant swing of the market. (Remember, that market can swing several cents in a matter of minutes.) You are trying to place sell/buy./ and future contracts. The person with the faster connection will beat you everytime.

Another one, your prize breeding bull is acting strange, you go online and contact the vet. The vet tells you to take pictures or better yet a live video feed so he can see it walk. No can do...

Or, the govenment decided your county will get coverage from hail damage, the first 100 claims wins, everyone else takes a back seat.

Actually the list is just as long as it is for any big business and today farming is big business.
