- Those aren't the complaints I hear

Most of it is the fact that NCLB is unrealistic. They expect the same progress from EVERYONE. That includes special education children. It is a nightmare and impossible to achieve. The Feds did not think this completely through. They rushed it in order to "show they care."
I wish there was someway to differentiate between "good" teachers and "bad" teachers. My mother taught for 25+ years. After 5 years of working, I made more than my mother did at that time. My wife got out of teaching and into special services because teaching is a thankless job.
