Problem isn't NCLB
"No Child Left Behind" was the first time the feds got in to funding education big time. It is the biggest "federal" funding boost in history in "percentage" or "absolute" terms. (It is a fact that school funding has ALWAYS been at the state and local level). All it asks in return is that the schools are tested for improvement. The failed teachers unions and education established will complain to the bitter end whenever you try to impose any kind of standardized testing on them and you're repeating the same propaganda.

All I hear is "No Child Left Behind" doesn't provide enough funding. All I hear is "how dare you test us for progress and improvement".

The problem isn't lack of computers or lack of broadband access. The problem is that the public school system and the education union lobby have paralyzed it. The problem is that the best teacher gets paid the same as the worst teacher. The problem is that the NEA will block any standardized metric to measure the teachers or their products.

After we give out free broadband, I wonder who's going to start proposing free PCs/Macs as a new "human right".
