I was awake in that class...
Tax cuts do specific things at the expense of other things. In the 80's Regan was faced with a difficult problem. He had high unemployment coupled with inflation. Cutting taxes typically helps the one and hurts the other. As I posted previously, just because you keep more dollars numerically, doesn't mean you retain good value.

And in fact the deficit has been dropping faster than anyone expected. Our govt is not hemmoraging money, our elected officials are refusing to restrain themselves.

I find it ironic that are Democracts typically characterized as fiscally irresponsible as compared to the Republicans when one looks at the last 25 years of Presidency. Clinton was the only administration that saw any significant reductions. And G. W. Bush administration has been one of the biggest spenders in US history.

Finally, while I have had a lot of Respect for Senator McCain (I had hoped he would be president over Bush), I find his goals suspect in this case. I find it hard to believe that they are suffering from spectrum restrictions as opposed to other more serious problems that would be better addressed. But that is my uninformed opinion on the matter.
