Try not to confuse the issues at hand, which is all to common given the 10 minute attention span of the average US consumer. In a down economy tax cuts are very effective and necessary, for the reasons stated previously, faster impact, more stimulus than govt spending. And in fact the deficit has been dropping faster than anyone expected. Our govt is not hemmoraging money, our elected officials are refusing to restrain themselves. Just take a look at the last trasportation bill.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on the justification given by Mr McCain for the acceleration of the roll out for DTV. To free up analog spectrum for use by first responders in an emergency, 911, Katrina. The longer we wait, the more we handicap our fire, police and medical responders. Of course freeing up the spectrum won't get rid of incompetent Governors and Mayors.
