What would Intel pick: 802.11n or WiMAX
This is part of the question folks need to be asking. Both will not be successful.
Intel has to much invested in the success of the new 802.16e (Mobile Wireless) WiMAX chips to allow the upstart 802.11 (WiFi Alliance) series products to ruin their parade again.
A 802.11n standard (w/Airgo chips on board) combined with recent enhanced Security and QoS 802.11i & 802.11e the WiFI Alliance have developed give these WiMAX folks fits. Airgo has such a technology lead that these Chips boys are willing to compromise on a inferior product just to keep everyone in their place.
Bottom line (per my WiMAX remarks)is: There are too many underutilized WiFi based customer access devices on the street(802.11a/b/g) that will be enhanced by any AP with the Airgo chips. This combination will marginalize any value (economic and technical)the Intel Rosedale (WiMAX) brings to the Mobile/Portable market.
It behove Intel to either delay release of any Airgo solution or to kill it and come out with a compromise low value product.
You decide what is the real answer
