ROKr is just catching up to the phone/music player market!!!!
You stated "Samsung's SGH i300 and Sony's Walkman W800 are examples of handsets that play digital music files. But as of yet, getting music onto the phones has not been easy."

For close to a year now, I have been using Samsung SGH i600 (Smartphone w/ Windows Mobile Software). It comes with Windows Media Player and some other important mobile apps (calender, mini Outlook, etc). Fully configured, my phone is able to act as a Blueberry (I am able to send and receive SMTP emails on the go from phone...) send and receive SMS messages, communicate using Instant Messenger (MSN IM) on the fly, download and play music and video (using Windows Media and MSN Music Store), synchronize my outlook contact list, task and calender etc. The music download/synchronization is as easy as synchronizing my outlook calender.

As a business man, this phone more than serves my need as a cellphone, PDA, blueberry, music player, etc.
It is only lacking WIFI, a picture viewer utility and a camera.
For advance users like meself, the ROKr is like a toy! ROKr is no news because Bill Gates already said that the future of portable music is with cellphone. Something which MS has almost perfected.

Did I mention my phone has a 1GB flash card... and that its music storage capacity is unlimited... it simply depends on the size of my compact flash!
Nice try Apple... ROKr is no news!!!!!

I have to admit do.... I do occasionally have to reboot my phone wink...
