- That is just it, Google does not intend to make money on VOIP itself.
- They will use that to keep people using their services and keep the add revenue rolling in. Sure, Google will charge to connect to POTS for the short term. But, I hope that the standards win out and everybody can interconnect. Won't in be nice when you can place a call by entering a symbolic name "UserName@mydomain.com".
