It seems like much progress has been made.
It amazing what millions of transistors thrown at a problem can do. This is what has happened with homeplug. Just a few years ago it was brushed off as dead because of the complex noise issues in power cables and transformers.

It appears this stuff has turned the corner in a substantial way if Intel is behind it. This is real good and warrants another look albeit wireless is where it's at.
