VoiP bandits
Perhaps I'm technologically astute, but it seems to me that VoIP uses up considerably more bandwidth than "normal" ISP traffic, and the VoIP Companies pay a normal website price. It would then seem that the ISP's will have to increase their bandwidth and server space to accomodate them. VoIP then gets their transmission "lines" very cheaply, and the rest of the users will end up paying for increased infrastructure to serve VoIP without any benefit. Perhaps they shouldn't be blocked, but they sure should pay their fair share of the cost of doing business. I had Vonage and it stunk as a service. One still needs land lines or cell in case ISP goes down. I now have an LD provider that charges very little, no minimums, & all the long distance I've ever needed (with two families out of state) inter & intrastate has cost me no more than $8.00 in a month.
Maybe once people start figuring out they don't save much with VoIP, and the shiny wears off the new technology, it'll show to be the passing fad it is.
