Socialism at its finest
This is what happens when a government gets involved in interstate commerce and trade. They will see a price drop initially but the inefficiencies will kick in later. The true costs will be buried in taxes because governments cook the books also. This also means people that do not want this service are paying for it also.

In the future if a company wants to break into that market in the Philly area, it will not be able. The government will use the tax base (mandatory) to keep him from getting to market by cooking the books. Say the service is $15 a month to charge and $55 dollars a month hidden or buried in other projects. Governments are notorious for not itemizing the bill. Then they would have a referendum vote on whether or not to allow the competitor to come to market, based on their creative accounting.

Another thing is if someone were to come along with new technology in the future, how quickly would the government adopt it. I bet the government would not allow the new technology until they were 100% completely converted on their leisurely update.

I believe the government should stick to refereeing or policing to make sure everyone is playing by the rules. We do not want government in our lives but some dumbass socialist is always inviting them back.
