Why the paranoia about credit cards?
I don't get all this worrying about credit card numbers. Sure, it's a hassle to get charges reversed, but you know how many millions the credit card providers spend on detecting fraudulent charges ASAP?

It's a broken system, they know it, but it's got market penetration and it works. Fact is, they make plenty fat moolah on the credit charges, and they want it to continue, so they'll do everything in their power to keep you as a customer (unless, of course, your credit rating stinks, in which case go buy a car on a loan and get a mortgage and watch it go up... ;] ).

As a result, a call to the company in question and in most cases they'll jump all over themselves to get charges reversed, issue you a new card, etc. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes on the phone.

Maybe I'm being a little Pollyanna about this, but I've used my card on any number of SSL-encrypted sites and have never had a problem...

And no, before you ask, I'm not giving my number to YOU! ;]
