First, wireless broadband via prestandard WiMAX is great for those that can get it. This means that those in various regions where they can not (or are unwilling to) pull fiber (which is faster) or DSL/Coax (cable) can get get broadband. This is good and allows them to possily be more productive (maybe).

The downside, this is prestandard and the equipment may not be upgradeable when the standard is finally released. This means that those that do go for this option (WiMAX) may be stuck with some useless hardware in the next few years. WiMAX is expected to be staderdized in 2006 or 2007 amd amything that is ofered until then is just prestandard (not really 802.16e). While they will be able to get new standardized equipment in the future, it stil means that they may have some useless junk in the future (just as with the old prestandard 56k modems).
