Truly amazing ...
Nothing surprises me anymore, but I always find it amazing how arrogant corporate executives and political operatives are when it comes to how they treat the general public. Here, for example, we have major corporations saying that a local government has no right to enter into the information infrastructure business. And, not to be outdone, we have a public servant insisting, that even if the public does NOT want this project to happen, it will be shoved down their throat anyway.

Perhaps if the rate structure of cable companies and telcos was reasonable, there wouldn't be an incentive to create a government operated network.

But now it is going before the voters, which is how it should have been done from the beginning. And if the voters decide they want to fund it with their tax money, the corporate world should butt out. But if the voters decide that in essence, they are happy with the service already being provided by the private sector, public servants should get a life and try serving their employers (the tax payers) for a change.

Between the corporate shark, always looking for a way to make a fast buck, and the do gooder busybodies that permiate our government, the ordinary taxpayer doesn't seem to stand a chance. Both sides should step back and let the taxpayers make a decision AND both sides should respect that decision.
