(If that "what about Sony" quote rings a bell with you, you're showing your age!)

Not much of a summary of the "test", to be sure. I have experience w/Vonage and couldn't deal with the echo and delay - too often poor audio quality. Been with Lingo since about last November. Seldom experience a dropped call, only real gripe would be, after an extended phone call, get a couple seconds of garble, which then clears up. Price is right (cheaper than Vonage- ahem), and, with all the bells and whistles and generally near-landline performance, the price makes it really easy to accept a few minor, occasional glitches. Just went off for 11 days on a little vacation - call-forwarding to my cellphone was perfect - callers didn't even know their call was being forwarded.
