Federal law and Wi-Fi mooching
Unless my memory is completely gone, which admittedly is quite possible, Federal law back in 1933 or so specifically said the airwaves were public property, as in belong to everyone in the USA, and could not be claimed by any individual or company. I believe this was part of the legislation establishing the FCC. So if the airwaves are public property, then how can someone be prosecuted for mooching? As long as they aren't snagging the other person's data, it seems there is no violation.
