802.11b not 802.11g
The article cites 802.11b, but I'm sure they'll get 802.11g or an extension thereof to get the final leg of the connection up to 54Mbps or better potential.

The problem/issue is that I see fiber running on utility lines (piggyback OH or bundled in UG conduits) as having much more upside capacity than a HF signal running on heavy copper conductors. Given bitrate increases over the last decade, I think fiber will deliver the broadband video bitrates far better than something cooked up to ride on a hot power conductor.
