Tell that to the people in extreme rural areas who are still getting 28.8 on their phone dial-ins. Most of them would kill for the connectivity BPL gives them. Also, you can network your house using existing power lines. My supervisor did it and he has three machines networked sharing the Internet. It's not CAT 5 speeds, you get maybe 5mbps throughput for file sharing, but it's better than having cable strung all over the house or crappy wireless signals.
