If Philly is successful, is could ruin the telco industry. Imagine Vonage in every household in Philly, then New York, then Boston... see ya Verizon!
So much for the plus side. But there are a TON of downsides to this. What technolgy are they using on the back end? DSL? T-x? If ISP's are involved which ones? And how can they be called ISP's at that point? Woudn't they become CSP's? (City Service Providers?).
Do we really want GOVERNMENT controlling our Internet access?
Too many issues to be decided yet. This needs to be thought through MUCH MORE before they go ahead with this.
