Yes but..
"Judges get appointed to life terms, so once they are "in", they are free to do their work in their own way."

Yes but their views remain the same, so if their very right wing before they got in, they most certainly will be that way for the duration of being a judge. If someone is against abortion and think it should be made illegal, would their viewpoint suddenly change merely because they're wearing a black robe? And I do not trust Bush's appointees. They are all either criminals, liars, sympathizers or advocates of torture against innocent people, assh*les, bullies, crybabies, and obnoxious pseudo-religious trash. John Bolton is yet another piece of bullying condescending criminal garbage, just like Ashcroft, Gonzales, Rice, and so many others.

"Look at the Terry Shiavo case. EVERY SINGLE JUDGE said the same thing."

Yes, but that was not an important case, only an overly politicized one that the "right to life" fascist Repubs tried to underhandedly use to stoke their base once again. Too bad it actually backfired on them when Bush wouldn't blatantly break the law (like the reject Christians wanted) to take her into federal custody.

"Do you REALLY think that judges - that happen to be conservative - will ALWAYS vote in the same way?"

The ones that Bush will put in will. They will be mere drones serving the fascist dictates. The only problem Bush and co. have had with getting things their way has been the court system. You know, the ONLY branch of government that hasn't been hijacked and destroyed by the fascist regime? Do you think one of Bush's judges would have voted against his administration when they asked to try Jose Padilla, an AMERICAN CITIZEN, without providing evidence? That dude would be TOAST by now! Fugggedabout any congressional Repubs daring to raise their voice and dissent from the party line. For they might wind up suffering a fate like Paul Wellstone.

"Hastert yesterday offered to restore ALL of the rules that the Republicans changed in the ethics committee - ALL of them!"

I'll believe it when I see it. Many politicians shoot their mouths off the either stoke their base or raise false hopes. I sincerely hope that most all of this Nazi legislation gets tossed eventually..
