- It's just so poorly thought out.
-
I could well see the reason for smart chips in a passport that had bioinformation used for security, and held things like visa information etc... But it's just plain stupid to use unprotected RFID chips to do it. The system needs to be something where the user must do something like swipe his fingerprint to unlock the data. Or something along those lines. I.e. only the owner of the passport can cause it to "open up" metaphorically speaking.
I do find it interesting how the Republicans repeat the mantra of getting the gov't out of our lives, all the while spending more money, thus putting us further into debt, a debt WE must pay, which most certainly puts them more in our lives, plus mercilessly enforcing anti-drug laws, another action that puts them squarely into our lives again. If the Republicans really meant it when they talked about getting out of everyone's lives, they'd not only fix those issues, but they'd think out this whole passport thing a little more carefully.
It's not a wholly bad idea, but the rush to implementation is likely to make it a very poorly done one. - Posted by: Sxooter_z Posted on: 04/29/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
