Trend Micro customers suffer weekend mayhem

not exactly...

I'm guessing these companies had the corporate version that normally is updated off 1 or 2 servers. It auto downloads the patch and updates the workstations from there, with little or no interaction. I know if Symantec has a problem like this on win2k machines i'm going to have quite a bit of work to do, but then again I also have it setup to ask before it replicated the definitions to the clients. I really wouldn't blame the admins, they were doing what they have been doing for a long time without problems. I also wouldn't have assumed that a virus definition update alone would have caused these problems, now I need to redo my thought process about the auto updates from a central location. I have to give it to Trend Micro on one thing though, they are reimbursing their clients for lost productivity, can't say i've seen a company do this very often when something breaks.
