Consider this ...
Most of the hackers that I know hack because it's cool. It's about getting props and the respect of other hackers. And realistically, it's about little else.

Now cracking the encryption for protected music files or DVDs would get lots of props from fellow hackers. I'm not saying that it's a good thing -- just saying that cracking is one of the currencies of the web.

Deleting all of their music files would not gain many props for peers.

Me thinks that the music execs are more than just "suspects" -- just an opinion.
