You've GOTTA be kiddin...
It's time the state and federal government enacted laws that dictate the before a software product is released on the market, it is THOROUGHLY tested, THOROUGHLY analyzed, and if there is ANY doubt to the security risks of using the software a warning label or some other notification is put on the package or PC it comes on.

There's some SERIOUS flaws in that bit of logic. If that were the case, NO computer system, OS or application would EVER make it to market. Or if they did, the prices would be forced to into the stratosphere - JUST so the vendor could afford the appropriate amount of liability insurance.

An example: Windows XP was released in 2001. FOUR years later, they're still finding ways to crack the thing open. IE 6 has been around about the same amount of time and the situation isn't any different. (And before you linux geeks fall into the glee of insanity, if the same resources were thrown up against your OS of choice, there would be LOTS of flaws found.)

In reality, there's only SO much testing you can do before a product gets to market. You can test, test and retest till the cows come home and still NOT find every single avenue to hack a piece of software. It's impractical to test every single possible configuration because the options list is very, VERY long.

There's also a saying that fits quite nicely:

There's NO such thing as "FOOLPROOF" because Fools are so ingenious.

The same is true of hackers. These guys are doing things to code in ways the developers no doubt never took into account while they were writing it.
