You might want to back that train up the track. I am a Joe 6 Pack type of user. Tried to install Suse 6.2 without success back in 1998?. Fortunately, it had a bad cd(there were 6 as I recall), and when I went back to return it I noticed 6.3 on the shelf. Swapped even for that, and found it to be a much easier install. Since then, Suse 6.4, Open Linux, SOT Linux, Redmond Linux, several versions of Red Hat, Mandrake, Vector, and several others. Most were pretty easy to install, certainly a lot easier than Windows. (Hint: did not have to install AV, Firewall, Office suite, burner software, chat software, etc. and etc.) Yes, it is different from Windows. Yes, there is a learning curve once you depart from point and click, if you choose to leave poiny and click. For the most part, you don't have to. But there are things about Linux that are really neat. For instance, you are running in KDE(that's a window manager)and your ... needs the machine. Simply start another session, your ... does his/her thing, possibly with a different window manager such as Gnome or Icewm or XFCE, exits the session and you are back in your KDE. Or say you have multiple projects/tasks during the day. Group them on different desktops(up to 16 available). Never scandisk or defrag, never run any AV, no worries about adware or malware. Very few tasks in Windows that can't be done in Linux, especially for the home/SOHO user. Nothing to do with being smarter or anything like that. More with taking a little extra time with something new and getting lucky. You might want to play around with it and see what you think. Who knows, you might get lucky, too.
