Funny you should mention that!: You know it's funny you should mention that scenario! I had a zip file come in once, didn't light up on Norton, looked kinda suspicious, so I forwarded it from my web based e-mail account to my ISP account to run it by McAffee on their mail server. Sure enough McAffee picked it up and quarantined it, although it didn't know for sure what it was.

I sent a copy of it to Norton and McAffee, and about 2 hours later got a reply back from the folks at McAffee that it was a new a variant of a known virus; that they had only seen two copies of it, mine and another, both within an hour.

The mail came from a known address, there was no reason to suspect it, except that individual has never sent me a zipped file! Common sense dictated that they probably wouldn't have sent what was suggested in the e-mail in a zip file at that time either.

As for Norton, they wrote back that it was a known virus and their product had caught it, although I was adamant in my mote to them that it hadn't; that I had manually quarantined it. I also wrote to them that day concerning the fact that my Norton AV would not auto-update, and it was spitting out messages stating that my subscription had expired and in that I had the recipt for it lying in front of me stating it still had 8 weeks left on it, I was not impressed!

Some 5 weeks later I received a real nice e-mail from customer service concerning my problems, and inquiring if the issue had been resolved? I told them it certainly had...
