Linux won't execute it
You do prove the point that Linux is not used enough. Otherwise, people would know that even if you unzip the file, you still have to chmod it to make it executable, and then run it. There are still two problems:

1. It's a Windows binary. You would need wine to run it, assuming it can run under wine. Even if it can, the virus is looking for a DOS filesystem (c:\windows\ ...), and it will be contained to wine filesystem (~/.wine); Linux will be unaffected.

2. Even if it's a Linux virus, who runs Linux as root? The virus will be contained to whatever the non-root user can do.

If Linux were used enough, maybe people would know how safe it is. When I receive these viruses, I happily unzip them and analyze them, without the possibility of getting infected.
