Writing device drivers?
Editing umpteen configuration files to make your software work?

When was the last time you tried Linux? 1994?

Next time try a user friendly Linux distro like SuSE, and install webmin. You'll be pleasantly surprised how comparable the ease of configuration is to that of Windows. And with Linux you rarely even have to download drivers from the manufacturer's website, they are there right in the box.
