Once again, Linux is immune of course ... the facts of life ...
You get an impressive looking email that invites you to check out something new which ...

Takes you to an impressive looking website which invites you to download a script which will 'blow you away' ...

Which is, of course, a Windows killer app ...

Thank God I use Linux (and I do, actually)!

Oh, wait! They also are offering ... a version for Mac ... and ... oh no! ... I can't believe it! ... they even have a version for Linux! ... Yahoo! ... I've just got to check that one out! ... well, says this program gotta run at system level for all the bells and whistles, will make my Linux system run this app just like Windows ... need to run as root ... lets see here ... well lets check it out!

Oh, oh! What's wrong with this picture?

Disclaimer: I am long time user of desktop Linux and a frequent poster on this site. I believe Linux to be significantly more secure than Windows. But there is a limit, and some real dangerous turf for those who are arrogant and imprudent. Smart people NEVER do anything with junk mail of ANY KIND other than to delete it. Legitimate institutions do not advertise their wares via junk mail. Crooks do. And they don't really care what OS I am using. They only need stuff like credit card information and Linux can deliver that to them every bit as efficiently as Windows. You can count on it!
