If I were you and didn't have an IT friend, I would first go to http://daniweb.com/techtalkforums/forum122.html which is one the places to look for help. You will need some anti-hijacking tools to help analyze the problems, yes, probably multiple problems. You will find resources there to help capture logfiles from scanners you can mount in your CD drive.

Linux-based live CD scanners will work, if you can hang on long enough to receive one.

The on-line scans will work, once your machine is back up, but it sounds like you need to pull the hard drive out of your machine and add it as a slave to a non-infected machine so that you can scan the drive and remove any nasty things.

You will need patience and luck. The writers of this malware need to suffer equally to all the victims they have harmed. But they don't respect the loss of photos and files as anything personal. It's a shame.
