I think the bounty system is a good way to develop open source
I think sourceforge or someone could run a system where say I really really wanted ftp/xml replication from Korganiser to a file on my website, I could offer $10 as a bounty for a programmer to implement.

Other people see this idea and bounty, and say, "hey I'd pay $5 to see that too, pretty soon there's $2000, and a programmer (anyone from around the world) applies to sourceforge to be assigned this work.

He gets a week to do it, implements it, checks it in, sourceforge check it, yep it matches the spec, and gives the guy the money.

Now THIS would be cool.
