Norton Antivirus and SystemWorks 2005 On Its 3rd Installation!
1st reinstall, Norton failed to remove SystemWorks 2001 and insisted my subscription was expired. How can a software company fail to recognize and uninstall its own software?

2nd reinstall, after successful weekly scan, went to check stats when the piece of sh*t software said 'antivirus not found or failed to load. The related message on their web site indicates it has been updated 4 days ago -- which means they found a new problem since I fixed it last week!

BTW, the main menu takes forever to come up. They must have written this POSS (see above) in interpreted COBOL.

So I used GOBACK to restore the machine to a point after the full scan and I still get the same message. I guess that means that GOBACK isn't working either!

I have to use Internet Explorer to run their web based checks -- does not work under Netscape!

A couple of years back, their LiveUpdate service would not let me renew or update my W95 laptop virus definitions. It was impossible to get a hold of a real person in tech or sales support. So my laptop lives a life cautiously cruising the web via dial up.

Let's go back a few more years! I bought GrandView, a great outliner and PIM, but they dropped the product. Bought their project management software and they sold that off to another company. I almost bought ACT, but found out they sold that too.

Don't these people realize that when we buy software, that we want the company we bought it from to be their for support?

That's it for me buying their products! I avoided them until I saw I could get a rebate of $30 dollars for NSW 2005. I've spent at least 10 times that in time and aggravation.

My hint to all: "Avoid Symantec unless you like dealing with buggy software that you will have to baby sit forever!"
