software testing is a continual necessity. just ask M$ how they debug their
software. they get millions of hapless users to install the first beta version and test it for them. no programmer, no matter how good he is, can engineer a product that is totally free from the possibility of a user finding an ingenious way to break it. i used mcafee for a while and it is very good but pricey. now i use norton. i have not seen a big difference in the two since norton came out with the auto-update feature that mcafee came out with. and since the new flaw is updated automatically this news story is the only way i will know there ever was a problem. but i must say that i trust symantec to do that much more than i trust M$ to. as a matter of fact, i don't trust M$ at all. (except to gouge hundreds of dollars out of me whenever they want to add a shiny new toy to the OS)

so get a grip.

it's just SOP.
