Having supported BOTH Mac and Win machines...
I have worked doing tech support for PC makers and for Macs, supporting both the general public, and corporate end users, on both platforms. When I moved to the big city to take a job doing ISP support, at the last minute I was offered a chance to be trained by Apple to learn to support Mac instead. I jumped on it. A few years later and since then, I have got great jobs with big computer players, supporting PC's only *because* I knew Mac as well.

IMHO after professionally supporting both platforms, I do think Mac is better (...ducking the flames now). Having said that....I base my opinion on how easily I worked with Macs and Mac end users, to solve real world problems. It is so much easier to support Mac's, no matter the technical awareness of the end user.

Each platform has it's advantages and disadvantages. As a consultant, I do suggest most folks go with windows, IF and only IF, if they have no Mac support near them (like in a larger city). For anyone who has *good* support for their computer, Linux and/or Mac are a superior choice. Unfortunately Microsoft seems to have been very adept at stealing technology, and marketing it well, so we live in their world.

My level of expertise with Linux is growing slowly, added to what I know of the other two platforms. The debate over which platform is better serves no good purpose. There will always be folks who drive different kinds of cars. Good mechanics know how to fix many different kinds of cars. IMHO computer techs should be the same.

So given my background, I was very intrigued by the story of someone hosting this type of contest, to write virii for the Mac. I wanted to see it done. Notwithstanding the legal ramifications, it would be nice to see someone throwing down the Mac gauntlet in challenge. I would have been very curious to see the contest results.
