My experience has been that most users browse the web, write a few letters or homework papers, play a couple of games, maybe keep a small database(cd, lp, vhs tapes, other collections) maybe a couple of spread sheets, family finances including tracking portfolios, play some music and occaisionally watch a dvd, send and recieve e-mails, make greeting cards, download, organise, and retouch photos, make an occaisional dvd(home movies, etc.), and do the occaisional presentation(PTA?). All of which can be done as easily in Linux, BSD, and OSX as it can be done in windows. Plus, no current worries about spyuware, worms, trojans, or virii. Maybe the solution is to wean people away from windows?
