obviously you make a good point , however
You are wrong in one major respect the $ in M$ went to the driving out of competitors and the development of the rather corpulent code that is now the operating system of choice in america. Seriously, have you seen the specs on longhorn, the codename for the new operating system M$ is working on, they go something like this, "Microsoft is expected to recommend that the "average" Longhorn PC feature a dual-core CPU running at 4 to 6GHz; a minimum of 2 gigs of RAM; up to a terabyte of storage; a 1 Gbit, built-in, Ethernet-wired port and an 802.11g wireless link; and a graphics processor that runs three times faster than those on the market today"
(http://www.microsoft-watch.com/article2/0,1995,1581842,00.asp) I don't know about you but this seems to be a little much in the way of bloating. Honestly do you have two gigs of ram? A terrabyte HDD? I can say that I don't. Microsoft is bloating beyond all reckoning
