Computer Security is Insignificant
There are things much more valuable than the security of your computer. As the father of a teenage daughter who has been allowed to use instant messaging for years, although viruses are a PITA, they pale in comparison to the risk of having some child molesting scumbag latch on to your kid.

So the first and foremost focus of Internet security for me with my kids, is don't trust anyone online who you don't know personally know. And never trust the people you know to be as discriminating with their trust, as they are.

Anyone who thinks technology can fix problems of trust is going to be victimized, and doesn't really understand that human nature is the problem here, and being keenly aware of human nature is your best protection.
