Many folks have spyware loaded via IE browser
That's one example, can't happen with Linux unless you supply root password.

For example, my Windows XP box with my as non-admin user gets hit with this I-Search toolbar. The toolbar apears to come from some website I visited. I was never asked to install it. I have a desktop firewall and AV that is up to date, as well as a firewall on my router yet this darn toolbar that both Windows Anti-spyware and Ad-Aware anti-spyware claim is a bad thing. So I have one or the other remove it. I survived but something was loaded onto my system via IE with no notice to the user that it happened. This is not a good thing. I also find end users who bring their own software in to install on corporate systems, sometimes in violation of licensing, is that a good thing?

You call yourslef nonzealot but I don't think so, your points are pro-MS which is fine, enjoy it. BTW, there is no known dancing elves rpm so you better do some research so you won't laughed out of the bldg.

Have a nice day.
