A popular girl you have there Petey...
Windows vs. OS X vs. Linux Security does not need to be looked at as a system level vulnerability issue but as a here and now issue that is impacting a large amount of people now. It is overwhelmingly affecting users of Windows and not OS X or Linux. The argument of Windows critical mass / market share becomes a non-issue for general users. I usually dislike disassociated comparisons but this one is the closest I can formulate.

In High School we had three sisters almost identical. One was very popular and was enjoyed by most of the members of the athletic team on a regular basis. She was known to be a cheap date and you could take her anywhere. You could tell she was popular because she had more jewels that her sisters and everyone was familiar with her. Most guys could tell you of every mole on her body and she was in every issue of the school paper. The second sister was a class act, Always had perfect makeup and would not use profanity. She was by no means a cheap date and got few dates due to the fact that she only went to the best restaurants and Gala events. A large percentage of the male population did not even know she existed except for brief run ins with her and to those that knew her sister she seemed almost alien. The third sister was almost like a baby. She had to be spoon-fed and told what to do daily. She demanded very little if any attention but only the most mature and patient men would bother to date her. After High School things got a little messy for the first sister. The College Campus was much larger that the High school and she had trouble keeping track of who she was dating. The word was out about how easy she was and the more experienced students started to take advantage of her. She stopped studying in order to devote more time to make everyone happy. Then she used her connections and influence to spread to other groups. If you wanted to talk to anyone on campus you know you could tell her and it would get to any other student. The second Sisters College years were rather mundane in comparison. She had few friends but the ones she had were reliable and dedicated. She had a tendency to lose a few friends now and then due to her sister's connections. The Second sister also had a nervous breakdown followed by a personality change that somewhat mimicked the third sister. Many of her friends decided it was time to leave and a few still cling to the memories of how she used to be. But many felt she was a better person from her ordeal and stick by her side now more than ever and a few people that knew her sisters often stop and chat with her with many preferring her to her sisters.
The third sister found in college that she did not care for fame or fortune. Many found her hard to get along with as though she spoke a different language. She dressed different and avoided many of the trappings of modern life. She would have gone completely unnoticed if not for a few people that took her under their wings and worked to make her more socially acceptable. Trying to teach her to wear makeup alone was a monumental achievement. The friends she had were more like tutors than friends and she took to study more than her sisters. She had nothing to hide and even let her friends read her diary with no remorse.
After college the first sister woke one morning with a blister on her lip and a burning sensation while urinating. It was a minor annoyance and she did not tell a soul. After a month or so her skin turned yellow and more sores appeared. It was now impossible to hide and word quickly spread of how unsafe she was to be with. The first sister was in trouble that?s for sure. She did everything possible to cure here ailments but more popped up faster than she could recover from the previous ones. She had told her friends it was still safe to take her out as long as they had had there shots up to date and did not touch certain places. But there was really only one cure for her and she refused to accept it. She would have to stop playing with every stranger she met, as this would impede her future vision of world domination. She was able to keep many of her friends on a leash because they got their job through her and their bosses were using her too. She also started telling little lies about her sisters being just as slutty as she was, although anyone that knew her sisters could tell you that it was not nearly true.
The second sister got along okay and was quite happy with the friends she had. People kept trying to make her feel bad because she did not have as many friends as her sister or picked on her for not having as many jewels as her. Sometimes she surprised her doubters and the people that had invested time in her found that she indeed was still truly special.
The real surprise was the third sister. Her tutelage was beginning to show promise and she was truly maturing to be a fine young lady. Not as hard to get to know as in the past gaining friends fast, she was truly coming out of her cocoon. Although she was still difficult to understand on a deeper level she was now smart enough to know how to get along with general society. As time goes on and she comes into full flower most of us watching these young ones grow will be pleasantly surprised to see how they all turned out . I personally cannot wait to see what fine grandchildren they will bring me?
