Simply untrue
Windows evolved in an environment in which the model was a single, non-networked "personal" computer with a single user who would have complete control over the box.

That line died with Windows ME. XP came from a completely different line of OSs that started with NT which was always a multi-user, networked, "workstation/server" computer with users who could be configured to sign on without complete control over the box. Where MS goofed is in defaulting users to have complete control over the box but that is a different thing than saying the OS was not designed to support restricted rights users.

Going forward, I suspect the underlying OS is going to matter less and less. Phishing and pharming rely largely on social engineering. User ignorance remains the weak link in any security chain, and this is where criminal hackers will attack.

This, on the other hand, is 100% true. happy
