- What exactly are you complaining about?

You know that saying "you get what you pay for". It definitely applies when comparing Avast to McAfee. When looking at Avast in the corporate realm, I would change the saying to "you don't get much for what you pay", as their corporate products are insanely overpriced, and lacking in features compared to McAfee.
Here is a price comparison. I grabbed packages from both vendors which have comparable features, and did pricing for 199 workstations and 30 servers. The reason I did 199 workstations is because Avast online price calculator only goes up to 199.
Mcafee Active Virusscan Suite - 229 Machines
Includes: AV for servers and workstations/centralized management/NetShield for Netware/perpetual license
Cost: $7639.44
Avast Server Edition - 30 Servers
Includes: AV for servers (3 year license)
Cost: $11640.00
Avast Workstation - 199 workstations
Includes: AV for workstations (3 year license)
Cost: $5570.01
Total COst of McAfee: $7639.44
Total Cost of Avast: $17210.01
Ouch! No wonder they can afford to give away their AV for free to home users.
The free home edition does look MUCH better than the that POS free AVG Antivirus, and would probably do quite well for homr personal use, but it still doesn't compare featurewise to McAfee. - Posted by: toadlife Posted on: 03/17/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
